Belle's pups have all gone to their new homes.

Belle had her litter on Dec 15, 2007. 9 beautiful pups, 6 girls and 3 boys. As usual, Belle is being an excellent mother. And the pups are a lovely lot, shiny and sleek. Ms. Yellow is the smallest girl, Mr. Blue the largest boy. The whelping was entertaining! At one point, Belle was sure she was done, and I was sure she wasn't. I'm driving to the vet's for an x-ray to decide the matter when I hear a squeak from the rear. Belle had delivered a pup in the van! She did a great job, but Ms. White rode the rest of the way under my shirt. The x-ray showed still one more, a girl safely delivered back in the whelping box at home.

Belle has proven herself as a mother before. The quality she throws has been so consistently high, and she has been such a wonderful mother, it was natural to breed her one more time. This time, Laurie and I chose a beautiful black-born gray import from the Czech Republic, Grady. This boy has it all - looks, temperament, and pedigree. Everyone involved is extremely excited about this litter!

Belle is one of my favorite Briards of all time. She has a very outgoing personality, great temperament, movement that is a pleasure to watch, is very smart, and extremely affectionate. She just has the total package that is a pleasure to live with. She does have one major flaw - Briards are supposed to be reserved with strangers, and she sure isn't! Belle enjoys just about everyone she meets. And her minor flaw is she hogs the bed at night, trying to take my pillow. Belle lives at Lebec now, where she started her life, sharing the household with her great-grandmother Sassy, as well as her great-great-aunt Journey, her first cousin 4 times removed Sonnet, and a couple of non-relatives to play with. Belle was born into my hands, and I am thrilled to have her back in my house.

Belle's kids are amazingly popular. They are so popular, I can't keep them in my house! I co-own Ego and Blondie, both of whom lived with me, went to stay with good friends for brief periods, and never quite came back home except to visit. I also co-own Belle's son Chief, who lives with a friend who especially wanted one of Belle's kids after knowing her and her children. All three kids are in truly great homes. Belle's pups are smart, loving, and beautiful, but most of all they have special personalities that impress even experienced Briard owners. This litter, one of these special pups will be staying close to Mom and me. No friend will be good enough to get this one.

The Sire:

Grady

Ch. Great Expectations Dalido

Bred by Daniela Kellovska
Owned by Janet Couture, Avantage Briards

OFA Hips Excellent, OFA Elbows normal, OFA Patellas Normal, CSNB Normal, CERF 2006

Grady is a black born gray import from the Czech Republic, coming from the Dalido kennel. This boy is as sweet as they come. A finished AKC Champion, Grady is not fond of the show ring, preferring to be a family dog. He lives with Jamie and Ron Groce. Grady has the beautiful head, coat, type, and structure we were looking for to match with Belle, along with that sweet personality. His pedigree is stellar. He has only one puppy on the ground so far. I can't wait to watch these pups grow and develop!

Grady's sire Ch. Carlos Arte Cassari won Best of Breed at the 2003 National Elevage in France, a most prestigious honor. His mother, Cartier Monzerat Cadine, is a champion in 5 countries, and also has a long and illustrious show career.
